Foster that which you want more of

TWO WOLVES

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.”
“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

This is so well said. We really do have a choice as to what we want to nututre. Sometimes we get thrown a surprise that can take us off balance and drag us over to one side. But if in our hearts we know what makes us feel better inside and towards other people we can balance ourselves out again. And the more we work towards being “good” the stronger and free-er we feel.

    Hi Glynis,

Thanks for commenting! We do the right thing, conduct our lives with integrity, etc. not just because it’s the right thing, but because it feels better and it takes us where we want to go!
